I am so happy to announce that Forged by Fire has been officially granted a Recognized Service Organization status by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod!
The following is from the LCMS website and describes the basic understanding of our relationship. https://www.lcms.org/how-we-serve/mercy/recognized-service-organizations
Recognized Service Organizations (RSOs) are 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations that are independent of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, but they operate ministry programs that foster the mission and ministry of the church.
RSO organizations reach out in mercy and love to meet the needs of those who are suffering, poor, sick or lonely. They address human, social, economic, educational and spiritual needs.
As Forged by Fire continues to build a strong foundation for the work that we do, we felt that this was an important step for us. We look forward to our continued work with LCMS congregations, districts and other organizations that share our desire to serve those in need.
Finally I would like to thank a number of people who helped make this possible. The Southern District President of the LCMS Rev. Eric Johnson, Deaconess Dorothy Krans of the LCMS who serves as the Director of this program, and of course our Board of Directors for their work in this endeavor.
