St. Louis Tornado recovery effort

We were able to make a quick trip to St. Louis to assist the Missouri District in their recovery efforts in the city. With the help of LCMS Disaster Response, https://www.lcms.org/ we connected with Bethlehem Lutheran to serve the community in the Ville area. The destruction left behind by tornadoes is truly horrific. I often wonder if lives will ever be the same for many of the people who were in the path of this storm.

Our team was able to bring some delicious food to this hurting community for a few days. We served around 3,000 meals in that time. One day we worked out of Bethlehem Lutheran and delivered food into the community. The next two days we set up inside one of the harder hit areas of the Ville.

We connected with the community organizers who had turned the local Save-A-Lot into a makeshift recovery center. The building lost their roof, so the parking lot was the logical place to have resources for this hurting community. Each day the parking lot turned into a beacon of hope for those dealing with the loss and the hurt.

We had a great opportunity to live out our slogan of “Sharing our Savior, one meal at a time”. We did that with the help of our volunteers. We are truly blessed to have such a great support network with the LERT volunteer system. If you are not signed up yet, please do! https://www.lcms-lert.org/

It is hard to put into words what we saw there. These pictures give only a small peak into the world left behind after the tornado. I encourage you to please keep this community uplifted in your prayers as they struggle to move forward.

We would also like you to keep us in your prayers. Our leadership and volunteers cherish those prayers. We also ask for your continued financial support to help support these deployments, we could not do this without you. To donate, please visit our website at https://fbf501c3.com/donate/

Our list of supporters continues to grow, consider joining us in this journey.

Big thanks to LCMS Disaster Relief, Southern District of the LCMS, Steve’s RV in Lacombe, C’est Tout Trinity Mix, Pelican Wholesale and many other LCMS churches who donate to keep this mission alive. Also SDG trailers who built this beautiful LWML Mobile Kitchen unit. Krazy Kajun for the pots that make the magic happen. And finally our local Walmart Neighborhood markets who are always willing to help out.
