Texas Flooding Disaster

From the Facebook page of Doug Warner, journalist

Our hearts are devastated by recent events in our sister state of Texas. The loss of life unimaginable. Each day there is more news coming from the area. Unfortunately, the death toll continues to rise and we are brought to our knees with each update. There are moments of joy, although brief. There is still news of rescues. Children are being found who were once on the missing list. As a parent and grandparent I can’t fathom the pain that so many families are facing this day.

The team at Forged by Fire continues to keep these families in our prayers. We ask you to do the same thing. There is not much else we can do now. The search continues and the rains still fall. The work of first responders is dangerous and tiring. The photos of those who are pouring their hearts into this search is admirable.

As a fellow man and pastor, I wish that I could bring some type of comfort for those responding. I wish that I would have the perfect words to make things better. But we all know better. Our words will fall short. What those men and women are doing is heroic, yet the scars will last for a lifetime. It is our job to lift them up. We must support them with the necessary supplies. Our prayers will keep them going.

As believers, people who trust in a Savior, we know that this world suffers for now. But our trust is in what Jesus has promised for all who believe in HIM. One day, the current suffering and chaos will be over. One day the LORD has promised to make all things new. Maybe that is all we can do now, cling and hold to the promises of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.

Take time to lift those up who are conducting the search and rescue operations now. Ask our LORD to give them strength for the job ahead. For those mourning the loss of loved ones. Ask our LORD to comfort them with the promise of the resurrection. Let the Holy Spirit dwell with them in this time and remind them that they are not alone. And finally for those still waiting for answers, those searching for family members. LORD give them grace and peace. Help them in this what seems to be the darkest hours of their life to have hope. We as Your children know about hope. You alone bring hope, eternal hope.

As brothers and sisters in Christ, give us all hope for a brighter tomorrow.
