Meal Service on Friday in Slidell

On Friday we were able to work in a very close proximity to the damaged area of Slidell following the EF2 tornado that hit Slidell on Wednesday. Our plan was to keep our menu simple and try to serve as many people possible with the supplies we had.

Our location was in front of a Walmart Neighborhood Market on Pontchartrain Drive in Slidell. We are fortunate to have a great relationship with Walmart and they were able to donate a pallet of bottled water for us to hand out with our meals along with 50 gallons of water for us to cook with. Thank you Walmart!

We went to our famous chicken and sausage jambalaya with green beans, french bread and cookies for lunch. On our dinner service that day, we did a delicious shrimp with a penne pasta in cream sauce, served with a side of green beans, french bread and the cookies. No complaints, all compliments! In total we served over 1600 meals on Friday.

We will be back at for Monday and Tuesday of this week. Monday we will serve a very traditional red beans and rice with smoked sausage. And on Tuesday we are planning a meat sauce over penne pasta for lunch.
